Loose Threads

The Loose Threads series is a collection of nine pieces that capture the mess and beauty of the light and dark in our lives. Goodness and difficulty, ease and struggle mix together as we live our lives. But always there is light and beauty shot through the darkness, with one thread at a time making up our stories. There can still be such goodness and richness even in the challenging places and threads of our lives.



Stitched with no frame, the fabric puckered, stretched and moved naturally and the lines of the piece weave in and out. Some of the thread is cotton, some metallic, and some is silk. The fabrics are layers of cotton, gauze, linen, and tulle. The backing is a heavy duty felt. The plaque hanger is made with reclaimed pine or oak, furthering the reminder that even the worn out can often be given new life.
